Day 2 began at a wee German cafe across the road from our hotel supposedly selling breakfast. All we managed to pull together was a few croissants and some black currant jam. Not the fill you up breakfast we were expecting to say the least.
We jumped in a taxi and headed to a little known Berlin gem by the name of Classic Remise. It’s a museum come dealership come restoration garage for sports cars and vintage cars alike. In other words, Kieren and I’s idea of heaven.
It had every car imaginable and even an Aston Martin DB4 on sale for 635,000€! We probably spent about 3 hours here in this old renovated tram station looking at all their cars and even their big glass cabinet that rotated the cars.
We phoned an Uber to take us to the Spy Museum after we’d picked our chins off the floor from wandering around Classic Remise and as the taxi drew nearer we discovered it was a Tesla Model S with the biggest centre console screen I’ve ever seen in my whole life.
Next up was Deutsches Spionage Museum or The German Spy Museum to us, which was amazing! It had everything from the history of espionage, to some very famous spies to interactive exhibits such as dressing up as spies, pretending you were James Bond or attempting to make your way through a laser maze without setting off the bomb. It was a really fun and exciting museum and I think my mum would’ve passed out with excitement on the mention of James Bond.
The Spy Museum was conveniently placed right next to Potadamer Platz which we had been to the previous day and we decided to try out Vapiano for lunch.
It was super busy so took ages to get our food which was annoying as we were so hungry after the breakfast disaster. Kieren ended up having a calzone and I went for arrabiata (obviously). It was good but not the best Italian I’ve been to.
After a wander around Potsdamer Platz we headed back to the hotel for a quick power nap then used an app called FourSquare which is absolutely brilliant if you’re looking for places to eat or drink or dance the night away whilst in a city along with recommendations from others and photos from their experience! We managed to find a place for dinner using it called Chicken Buzz, a Korean chicken restaurant which was totally not our kind of place.
We ordered the medium Popcorn Chicken with hot sauce and Korean sauce and the Chicken Buzz burger which came with the super skinniest fries I’ve ever seen ever!! It was absolutely incredible, one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to and we were both in awe at how good the food was. Definitely worth the visit!
To end the night, we went to a bar called Sharlie Cheen which looked very cool but had a very limited menu so I ended up having a pornstar martini slush which was unbelievably strong and Kieren had some bizarre concoction with vodka and carrot juice despite me saying he would be better just getting a beer but here we are. We quickly tried to down the drinks so we could leave and it’s safe to say, that was the end of our pub crawl in Berlin. Afterwards, we walked back to the hotel, briefly getting caught in a short but heavy rainfall before heading to bed.
